Shivanee Thapa Basnyat is a Broadcaster of 18 years and holds a deep understanding of the media landscape in Nepal and the region. She is currently a Senior News Editor at Nepal Television. In her illustrious career in broadcast journalism, she has covered issues ranging from politics, foreign affairs, environment to sports. 
Ms. Thapa’s expertise spans program and documentary production, interview programs, current affairs, live TV, and sports commentary. Renowned as a top-tier emcee, moderator, and facilitator, She is a dynamic and versatile media personality known for engaging content and compelling delivery.
Ms Basnyat has covered several Prime Ministerial level State visits and been a part of distinguished delegation/s.  In the truest spirit of a broadcaster, she has done it all. From hosting news programs and interviews on contemporary issues, reporting from the earthquake hard-hit areas & historic constituent assembly elections in Nepal to sports commentary she has been on the scene.
Ms Thapa has Chaired many important national and international panels, including the UN Internet Governance Forum 2023 & 2024, the Panel on Environmental Disaster held under the Asia Media Summit- 2017 in Qingdao, China among others.
Ms. Thapa is a fellow of the Elite Fellowship Program of the US Department of State at the Asia Pacific Center for Security Studies, APCSS in Hawaii and a twice recipient of the prestigious Chief of Army Staff Commendation Badge.
